Hello

Hello people.

Avis has been intensively doing song writing and hardly doing any covers during jam sessions. We have acquired a Zoom H2 recorder to upgrade the quality of our recordings and to note down any ideas in the spur of the moment.

Laurent has taken the initiative to acquire a pair of Double Tama Iron Cobra to hone double pedalling and to get a reliable customized pedals for giging and jamming.

Glen is getting a new Fender Telecaster 62.

Please support us for the gigs in the following weeks on 19 April and 1 May. Please check the gigs page for details. Contact us for tickets!

Another Day

Well, we have been moving on. Originals are coming out. Currently have 6 at the moment, 2 of them are at almost completing.
Other 4 are still arranging and experimenting.
Joel has finally acquired his new mojo. A nice Fender MIJ 1993-1994 Jazz Bass. For the price, i think its tone is really quite something to behold. It is safe to say that everyone has moved up in their gear acquisition.
A gig is coming up soon on the 29th @ DXO. Guess thats about all. Cheers. =]

H.H.D

Guess what day is it?

ITS HAPPY HYPERION DAY!!!

Today is the first anniversary of the formation of Hyperion, a band who can make something out of just plain nothing.

Indeed, we should all remember our humble beginnings where we had nearly nothing and we would only jam for an hour each time in the not so nice Wee Lee Music jamming studios at serrangoon road. If given a chance, I wish to go back there, it has big windows for people outside to look into and see us play. I say that now ‘cus we are very much more competent than we used to be. So we are very much more confident and not afraid to let people see us play.

Sadly, Wee Lee has closed down and we are unable to look fulfill that wish. But nevertheless, this moment today marks a maturity in our band. Indeed we are very much more mature than we are before.

So, we look forward to many years of rocking till we BRING THE HOUSE DOWN!!!!

Thank you,

HYPERION.

Slow…

At a snail’s pace we are progressing.

“Rome was not built in a day.”

Same goes for the band. Or rather the songs from our band. We have seriously moved away from covers. Covering only four of our favourite covers chosen by the four of us on the last jam. Of course we made full use of it, jamming it with all our might, like its our last time we could play it.

Anyway, we already pretty much arranged the second original. Will be altered if the need arises. Writing the lyrics on the first, and starting on the second.

We were thinking about having an EP on the fifth song. Can’t take it anymore. Must make our presence known.

Well, I was right about Aloysius’s guitar. It sounds damn good. Powerful much. Hope he does his guitar justice by well, learning lots of stuff with it? And damn it Joel, get a new bass! I know this one not bad, but its falling apart! Heh.

Originalu =]

We have been churning ideas to make originals and things i would say are starting to get a move on.
We have our SECOND song at last. Kinda interesting tune thats pretty catchy and has this fusion of muse/pillows.
Now its arranging and perfecting haha.
More originals to come !!

Boring.

Not much activities. No jamming this week due to exams. Only thing is that,

ALOYSIUS HAS GOT HIMSELF AN EPIPHONE BLACK BEAUTY ELECTRIC GUITAR!

Congrats.

And er, Glen and I went to a gig where Trella and 7 other bands were playing. It was at the Arena, clark quay. We learnt a few things from this gig and we would keep it in our minds for future purposes such as not making the same mistakes some bands made.

Joel has been vigorously sending me new bass lines. Hard at work eh..

Cheers.

Laurent, Drummer of Hyperion.

Quit Pointing At Me! I’m Having Fun!!!

Hell yea. After weeks of not jamming, we decided to start things off on a high note. We booked room B at Olando’s Jamming studio. Which is THE room to be in. Starting from my perspective, the trap kit was just excellent!!! It was a Gretsch Catalina Maple in a 6 Piece configuration, with Sabian high hats, two crash cymbals, one crash ride, one splash, one ride and one china, not to mention Gibraltar Hardware.

Another name which my band calls this room by, is the “stack” room. Obviously because the room is filled with super high-end Marshall stack amps for the guitars and Ampeg stack amps for the bass. Moreover, my lead guitarist Glen just bought himself a Fender Mustang guitar, so its like high quality upon high quality. So he was having fun. Heres Aloysius giving an introduction to his newfound love.

And so during our 3 hours there, we did 83964983740164191071 covers of Muse and one snow patrol song. We also did many Rage Against the Machine riffs covered by Muse. We also made our own cover of a riff from the Final fantasy 7 boss theme to tail our original song, SOS. Which we have sort off perfected, instrumentally. More work on the lyrics guys! This song is gonna be a hit.

Well, we had fun. Hope to use this room many more times. Cheerios to all! From…

HYPERION!!! (Sorry Joel, blame it on Glen. xD)

Signing off,

Laurent, drummer of Hyperion.
